These Employee Referral Program Terms and Conditions apply when an Employer, Team Member or Candidate uses the JobsFor™ Employee Referral Program. By turning on referrals, creating a Referral Link, joining an Employer's referral team, or applying for a Job through a Referral Link, you agree to these terms. They work alongside our other site terms and our Privacy Policy. This is an interim version and may be updated as the program develops (see section 14).
1. Definitions
In simple terms: the meanings of the main words used here.
- Employer – a business with a JobsFor™ company profile and an active Local Hero Package™ (AUD $49 for 30 days, a one-off payment that does not renew automatically).
- Team Member – a person the Employer has added to its referral team and who has accepted the invitation. A Team Member is normally the Employer's own staff member (see section 11).
- Candidate – a person who applies for a Job through a Team Member's Referral Link.
- Job – a job the Employer advertises on JobsFor™ with referrals turned on.
- Referral Link – the unique link (also available as a QR code) created for one Team Member and one Job.
- Referral – a Candidate's application for a Job through a valid Referral Link. Only direct, first-level Referrals count.
- Hire – the Employer hiring a referred Candidate and recording them as hired in JobsFor™.
- Service Period – the time the Candidate must stay employed after the Hire before the Reward is payable: 3, 6, 9 or 12 months, as set by the Employer for the Job (90 days if not changed).
- Reward – the fixed amount in Australian dollars the Employer sets for the Job, at least AUD $1.
- Service Fee – the fee JobsFor™ charges the Employer on top of the Reward (section 8).
2. Who can take part
In simple terms: Employers need an active package; Team Members use a special referral account while on the team.
2.1 An Employer may use the program while it has a JobsFor™ company profile and an active Local Hero Package™, and complies with these terms.
2.2 An Employer adds a person to its referral team by email. The person becomes a Team Member only after accepting the invitation.
2.3 Employer referral account. Your staff get an employer referral account, it cannot be converted to a jobseeker account. While on the team, the account cannot apply for jobs, post a resume, set job alerts, save jobs, or view other Employers' jobs. Being removed from the team ends these restrictions.
2.4 A person who already has a JobsFor™ jobseeker account with applications or a resume must confirm, on a screen explaining these restrictions, before joining a team.
2.5 Recruitment agencies, labour-hire businesses and other third-party recruiters may join a referral team only with JobsFor™'s written approval (section 11).
3. How referrals work
In simple terms: one unique link per Team Member per Job, shared directly with genuine candidates.
3.1 The Employer creates a Referral Link for each Team Member for each Job.
3.2 Only the person who directly shares their Referral Link with the Candidate can receive credit. There are no second-level, chain or "friend of a friend" Rewards.
3.3 JobsFor™ tracks a Referral through the Referral Link itself and, where the Candidate has accepted cookies, a referral cookie for up to 45 days.
3.4 Share your Referral Link only with people who may genuinely be interested in the Job. You must not spam people or send messages in breach of the Spam Act 2003 (Cth), buy, sell or trade Referral Links, create fake Candidates or applications, refer yourself, or give false or misleading information.
3.5 Candidates must be real people who choose to apply. Do not apply on someone's behalf without their consent.
3.6 If a Candidate used more than one Referral Link for the same Job, the Referral recorded with their application counts. Where the records are unclear, JobsFor™ decides attribution from its referral, application and account records.
4. Eligibility
In simple terms: a Referral must meet these conditions before a Reward is approved.
4.1 The Team Member and the Candidate must be in the same country.
4.2 For a direct Referral, the Candidate should be in the same job category as the Team Member. JobsFor™ uses the category information in the relevant accounts, Jobs and referral records.
4.3 These are conditions of the Reward. JobsFor™ checks them before approving a Reward, and no Reward is payable for a Referral that does not meet them.
4.4 JobsFor™ may ask for information reasonably needed to confirm eligibility, attribution, the Hire or completion of the Service Period.
5. Hires and the Service Period
In simple terms: the Candidate must be hired and stay for the Service Period before a Reward is payable.
5.1 The Employer records a Hire in JobsFor™ by moving the Candidate to Hired or by using Mark hired.
5.2 The Service Period starts on the date the Hire is recorded in JobsFor™. Employers should record the Hire on, or as close as possible to, the Candidate's first day of work.
5.3 The Candidate must stay employed by the Employer for the whole Service Period set for the Job. The Reward becomes payable only after the Service Period is complete.
5.4 If the Candidate resigns, is dismissed or otherwise stops working for the Employer before the Service Period ends, no Reward is payable. No partial Reward is paid.
5.5 A change of duties, position or employment status with the same Employer does not cancel the Referral, as long as the Candidate stays employed by that Employer for the Service Period.
5.6 The Employer must record Hires accurately and promptly, and must not delay, avoid or misstate a Hire to avoid a Reward.
6. Rewards and payment
In simple terms: the Employer sets the Reward; it is paid once per Team Member per Job, after the Service Period, by PayPal gift voucher.
6.1 Amount. The Employer sets a fixed Reward in Australian dollars for each Job. It must be at least AUD $1. There is currently no maximum.
6.2 One Reward per Team Member per Job. One Reward is available for each Team Member for each Job: the first qualifying Hire through that Team Member's Referral Link. A later Hire through the same link for the same Job does not earn another Reward. The Job page shows this before a link is shared. (JobsFor™ may later offer Employers the option to reward every Hire up to a limit they set; if it does, the option and its terms will be shown with the Job before links are shared.)
6.3 No lowering after links are shared. Once a Job has Referral Links, its Reward can stay the same or go up but cannot be lowered. The Reward paid is the amount set for the Job when the Hire is recorded.
6.4 When a Reward is payable. A Reward becomes payable when all of these are met: a valid direct Referral; the eligibility conditions in section 4; the Candidate was hired and the Hire recorded; the Candidate completed the Service Period; and the Employer has paid JobsFor™ the Reward and Service Fee.
6.5 Payment. Rewards are paid by PayPal gift voucher to the PayPal email address the Team Member gives in their JobsFor™ account. JobsFor™ verifies that email before paying; PayPal may hold payments to an unconfirmed PayPal email.
6.6 Timing. JobsFor™ aims to issue the Reward within 10 business days after the Employer's payment is received, but timing can depend on verification and on PayPal.
6.7 If a Reward cannot be issued because the payout email is wrong or unverified, or the payment fails, JobsFor™ holds the Reward until the issue is fixed. If a voucher expires or cannot be claimed, contact us and we will reissue an eligible Reward where reasonably possible.
6.8 Rewards are stated in Australian dollars. Any currency conversion or fees charged to a recipient outside Australia are the recipient's responsibility.
7. Employer obligations
In simple terms: honour genuine Rewards and don't work around the system.
7.1 The Employer must pay JobsFor™ every Reward that becomes payable, plus the Service Fee, which is charged on top and never taken out of the Team Member's Reward.
7.2 The Employer must keep Hire records accurate and must not avoid a Reward by delaying or not recording a genuine Hire, changing a Candidate's status, moving the Candidate between Jobs or records, or otherwise getting around the referral system.
7.3 The Employer alone decides whether to interview, hire, keep or let go of a Candidate. JobsFor™ does not guarantee that any Referral leads to a Hire.
8. Service Fee
In simple terms: a separate fee on top of the Reward.
8.1 The current Service Fee is 5% of the Reward, plus GST where it applies. The current rate is shown in your referral settings.
8.2 The Service Fee becomes payable when the related Reward becomes payable.
8.3 A refund, cancellation or end of an Employer's package does not cancel a Reward that has already become payable. Nothing in these terms removes a refund or other right that cannot lawfully be excluded.
8.4 If an Employer does not pay an amount due, JobsFor™ may suspend the Employer's use of the program until it is paid.
9. Disputes
In simple terms: JobsFor™'s referral records are the main evidence.
9.1 JobsFor™'s referral records (the Referral Link used, dates and times, the application, the Job, the Team Member, the Hire, the Service Period, and Reward and payment details) are generally used to decide attribution.
9.2 Raise a dispute about a Referral, Hire or Reward by emailing [email protected] within 30 days of becoming aware of the issue, with enough detail to identify the Job, Candidate, Team Member and Referral.
9.3 JobsFor™ reviews the information reasonably available to it and decides the outcome. Where only part of a claim is disputed, JobsFor™ may pay the undisputed part while the rest is reviewed.
10. Tax
In simple terms: Rewards may have tax consequences; get your own advice.
10.1 A Reward may be taxable income for the Team Member, depending on their circumstances.
10.2 The Employer is responsible for its own tax and employment obligations for Rewards paid to its staff, which may include PAYG withholding, superannuation, fringe benefits tax or reporting. JobsFor™ does not give tax advice; each party should get independent advice.
11. Recruiters and agencies
The program is for genuine referrals by an Employer's own staff. Recruitment agencies, labour-hire businesses and external recruiters cannot be Team Members unless JobsFor™ approves them in writing, and approved participation may come with extra conditions. To ask, email [email protected].
12. Privacy
In simple terms: we use referral information to run the program and pay Rewards.
12.1 JobsFor™ collects and uses names and email addresses, account details, Job and Referral details, application status, Hire and Service Period details, referral tracking information and payout email addresses.
12.2 We use this to run the program, track Referrals and Hires, check eligibility, pay Rewards, prevent fraud, resolve disputes and meet legal obligations. Our referral platform provider processes this information for us.
12.3 The Employer sees what it needs to manage its Jobs and referral team. A Team Member sees their own Referrals and Rewards. A Team Member does not get another Employer's confidential information because they are on a team.
12.4 Personal information is handled under our Privacy Policy and, where it applies, the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. Referral cookies are only set where cookie consent has been given; otherwise the Referral Link itself carries the referral.
13. Fair conduct and anti-fraud
13.1 You must not create fake applications, Candidates or Hire records, manipulate referral tracking, collude to obtain Rewards, refer yourself, buy or sell Referral Links, or otherwise misuse the program.
13.2 JobsFor™ may withhold a Reward where it reasonably believes a Referral or Hire involves fraud, collusion, manipulation, false information or another serious breach, and may reverse a Reward later found to have resulted from one. A genuine administrative mistake or honest disagreement is not, by itself, fraud.
14. Changes to the program and these terms
14.1 JobsFor™ may update these terms or the program. For material changes we will give notice on the JobsFor™ website, in WorkHub™ or by email.
14.2 Unless a change is required by law, a Referral keeps the Service Period and reward rule (one Reward per Team Member per Job) that applied when it was made, and the Reward amount under section 6.3.
15. Leaving the team or ending the program
15.1 An Employer may remove a Team Member. A valid Referral made before removal stays eligible under these terms if all other conditions are met.
15.2 JobsFor™ may stop or suspend the program. Valid Referrals made before then may continue through their Service Period unless the Referral was invalid or fraudulent, the Candidate did not complete the Service Period, or the law prevents payment.
15.3 A Reward that has already become payable stays payable even if the Team Member is removed, the Employer stops using the program, its Local Hero Package™ ends, or it closes its account.
15.4 JobsFor™ may suspend or end a person's participation for a serious breach, fraud, misuse, non-payment or another legitimate reason.
16. Liability and the Australian Consumer Law
16.1 Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right, guarantee or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law or other law.
16.2 JobsFor™ does not guarantee that a Candidate will apply, be interviewed, be hired or complete the Service Period, or that a Referral will result in a Reward.
16.3 PayPal and other third-party services have their own terms and availability. JobsFor™ is not responsible for matters outside its reasonable control.
16.4 To the extent the law allows, JobsFor™ is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from the program.
17. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and the parties submit to the courts and tribunals of New South Wales, subject to any rights that cannot be excluded.

How you earn a referral reward (summary for Team Members)
- Your employer adds you to its referral team; your account becomes an employer referral account (it can't apply for jobs while you're on the team).
- Your employer creates a unique link for you for a Job. Share it with people who'd genuinely suit the Job.
- The person applies through your link, is hired, and the hire is recorded in JobsFor™.
- They stay for the Service Period shown on the Job (3–12 months; 90 days by default). If they leave earlier, there's no reward.
- One reward per Job through your link. Same country and same job category apply.
- You're paid by PayPal gift voucher to your verified PayPal email after your employer pays. The JobsFor™ fee is never taken out of your reward.
What you agree to when you turn on referrals (summary for Employers)
- You set a Reward (at least AUD $1) and Service Period for each Job. Once a Job has referral links, its Reward can't be lowered.
- One Reward per Team Member per Job, payable after the hired Candidate completes the Service Period.
- You pay the Reward plus the JobsFor™ Service Fee (currently 5%, plus GST where it applies), charged on top.
- Record genuine Hires promptly and honestly. Don't delay or hide a Hire to avoid a Reward.
- Team Members are your own staff; recruiters and agencies need JobsFor™ approval.
- Removing a Team Member or ending the program doesn't cancel Rewards already earned.
