Privacy Policy

Last Updated: 22 October 2026

JobsFor Australia (ABN 97 473 498 030) (“JobsFor™”, “we”, “our”, “us”) runs the JobsFor™ website and services. We are committed to handling personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). This policy explains what personal information we collect, how and why we collect it, who we share it with, and how you can access, correct or complain about it.

1. Who We Are

JobsFor™ is an Australian online employment platform that connects jobseekers, employers, recruiters and local communities. Our services include job search and job advertising, candidate and employer profiles, resumes and applications, job alerts, job referrals, a business directory, community forums, freelance projects, and advertising tools for employers.

2. Information We Collect

What we collect depends on how you use JobsFor™.

Jobseekers and members

  • Name, email address, phone number, suburb/postcode
  • Resume/CV, cover letters, work history, education, qualifications, licences and skills
  • Profile photo (optional) and any other details you add to your profile
  • Job applications, saved jobs, job alerts and the businesses you register interest in
  • Whether you have verified your email address or phone number

Employers and recruiters

  • Business name, ABN, address, website, logo and description
  • Contact person’s name, email and phone
  • Job listings, applications received and hiring decisions you record
  • Team members you invite

Referrals

  • If someone refers you to a job, we receive the details they give us (usually your name and email) and who referred you.
  • If you refer someone, we record the referral, its status and any reward.

Community and public content

  • Forum posts, replies, reviews and reports you submit.

Payments

  • What you bought, amount, date and order details. Card payments are processed by Stripe or PayPal; we do not receive or store your full card number.

Account and technical information

  • Username, password (stored only as a secure hash), login activity and preferences
  • IP address, browser, device, pages visited, searches, cookies and similar technologies

Sensitive information

We do not ask for sensitive information (such as health, racial or ethnic origin, religion or criminal record). Please don’t include it in your resume, profile or posts. If you choose to, you consent to us handling it only to provide the service you asked for.

3. How We Collect Information

  • From you – when you register, build a profile, apply, post, buy, or contact us.
  • From other people – for example an employer who invites you to their team, or a person who refers you to a job. If we receive your details this way, we take reasonable steps to let you know.
  • From public sources – business information in our directory may come from public sources such as business listings and the Australian Business Register (ABN Lookup).
  • From job partners – some listings come from partners such as Adzuna; applying for those jobs takes you to the partner’s site, and their privacy policy applies there.
  • Sign in with Google – see section 12.
  • Automatically – through cookies and similar technologies (see section 15).

4. Why We Collect and Use Information

We collect personal information that is reasonably necessary to:

  • create and run your account and verify your email or phone
  • let you search and apply for jobs, and let employers post jobs and review applicants
  • run referrals, including tracking referral status and rewards
  • run the business directory, forums and freelance projects
  • process payments and keep business records
  • send job alerts, service messages and (if you agree) marketing
  • keep the platform safe: prevent fraud, spam and misuse, and moderate content
  • improve our services, and comply with the law

If you don’t give us certain information, we may not be able to provide some services – for example, employers can’t consider an application without your contact details.

We use and disclose information only for the purpose we collected it, a related purpose you would reasonably expect, with your consent, or where the law allows or requires it.

5. Who We Share Information With

We share personal information only where needed:

  • Employers and recruiters – when you apply for a job or register interest in a business, they receive the information you choose to send. They handle it under their own privacy obligations.
  • Referrers – a person who referred you can see the progress of that referral.
  • Service providers who only receive the information they need to provide their service: website hosting, security and content delivery (Cloudflare), email delivery, payment processing (Stripe, PayPal), analytics (Google Analytics), and our referral and payments system.
  • Advertising platforms – only where an employer connects their own account (section 12).
  • Government, regulators and law enforcement – where the law requires or allows it.
  • A buyer of our business – if JobsFor™ is sold or merged, under the same protections.

We do not sell personal information.

6. Public Information

Forum posts, reviews, public business listings and any profile details you make public can be seen by anyone, including people who are not members, and may appear in search engines. Think before posting personal details. You can ask us to remove your posts at any time.

7. Using JobsFor™ Anonymously

You can browse jobs, the business directory and the forums without an account or without telling us who you are. Where the forums allow it, you can post under a display name instead of your real name. To apply for jobs, post jobs, refer people or buy services, we need to know who you are.

8. Marketing

We send job alerts and service messages connected to your account. We send marketing emails (news, product updates, offers) only where you have agreed or where the law allows. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, and you can change your email preferences in your account at any time. Opting out is free, and we act on it as required by law. We comply with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth).

9. Overseas Disclosure

Our website and email are hosted in Australia. Some service providers we use store or process information outside Australia, mainly in the United States. This includes Google (sign-in, analytics, ads), Meta (ads, where an employer connects), Stripe and PayPal (payments) and Cloudflare (security). We take reasonable steps to choose providers that protect personal information appropriately.

10. Security and Data Breaches

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, change or disclosure. These include encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, encrypted storage of advertising connection tokens, limited access, and keeping our software up to date. No online service is completely secure.

If a data breach is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify affected people and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) where required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

11. How Long We Keep Information

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy, or as long as the law requires. When we no longer need it, we take reasonable steps to destroy it or remove anything that identifies you. You can close your account at any time; some records may be kept where the law requires.

12. Google and Meta user data

JobsFor™ uses Google and Meta services in two places only: Sign in with Google, and the optional Ad Campaigns feature that lets an employer connect their own Google Ads or Meta Ads account. This section explains exactly what data we receive from Google and Meta, why, how it is stored and shared, how long we keep it, and how you can remove it.

12.1 Sign in with Google

What we receive. When you choose “Continue with Google”, we request only the email and profile permissions. Google then shares your name, email address, profile photo and Google account ID with us. We do not request access to your Gmail, Google Drive, Google Photos, contacts, calendar or any other Google data.

How we use it. Only to create your JobsFor™ account, log you in, and fill in your name and photo on your profile. We do not use it for advertising or share it with employers beyond what you choose to show on your profile.

Storage and deletion. Your name, email and photo are stored with your JobsFor™ account; the Google account ID is stored so the same Google account logs you in next time. If you delete your account, this information is deleted with it. You can disconnect Google at any time from your Google Account permissions page (myaccount.google.com/permissions).

12.2 Google Ads (employers only, optional)

An employer can connect their own Google Ads account to the Ad Campaigns area of their JobsFor™ dashboard, so they can advertise their job listings without leaving JobsFor™. Connecting is optional and can be undone at any time.

Permission we request. The Google Ads API scope https://www.googleapis.com/auth/adwords. Google offers no narrower scope for creating and reading campaigns. We request no other Google scope for this feature.

What we access, and why.

  • The list of Google Ads accounts you can access (account ID), so you can choose which account to advertise from.
  • Campaigns, campaign budgets and ad groups that you ask JobsFor™ to create for a job listing: the campaign name, status, daily budget and keywords you entered.
  • The name, status and budget of campaigns in the connected account, so your dashboard can show whether each campaign is running, paused or ended.

JobsFor™ only creates a campaign when you ask it to, using the budget and keywords you enter. We do not change, pause or delete any campaign you did not create through JobsFor™. We do not access billing details, payment methods, audience lists or any personal information about the people who see or click your ads.

Storage. We store the access and refresh tokens Google issues and the ID of the Google Ads account you chose (encrypted together at rest), plus the settings you enter in JobsFor™: your budget cap and, for each job listing, whether advertising is on, the platform, the keywords and the daily budget. We do not store copies of campaign data from Google; campaign names, status and budgets are read from Google each time your dashboard shows them.

Sharing. Google Ads data is shown only to you and the people you authorise on your JobsFor™ company account, and to JobsFor™ staff who need it to support you. We do not sell it, use it for our own advertising, use it to build profiles, or transfer it to anyone else, except where the law requires it.

Retention and deletion. When you click Disconnect in your dashboard, we delete the stored tokens and account ID straight away and stop all access to your Google Ads account. The advertising settings you entered stay with your job listing until you change them or delete the listing; you can ask us to delete them sooner through our Contact Us page. You can also revoke access at any time from myaccount.google.com/permissions.

12.3 Meta Ads (employers only, optional)

An employer can connect a Meta (Facebook and Instagram) ad account the same way. We request the ads_management and ads_read permissions, and use them only to list the ad accounts you can access (ID and name), create the campaigns and ad sets you ask for, and read their name, status and daily budget. Tokens are encrypted at rest and deleted when you disconnect. You can also remove access in your Meta Business settings. Meta data is shared, retained and deleted on the same terms as Google Ads data above.

12.4 Google API Services User Data Policy

JobsFor™’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

In particular, we use Google user data only to provide the features described above, which you can see in your dashboard; we do not transfer it except to provide those features, to comply with the law, or as part of a merger or sale with notice to you; we do not use it to serve ads; and no person reads it unless you ask us to (for support), it is needed for security, or the law requires it.

What we never do with Google user data. We do not use or transfer Google user data for targeted, personalised, retargeted or interest-based advertising; we do not sell it, including to data brokers or information resellers; we do not use it to decide credit-worthiness or for lending; we do not use it to build databases for other purposes; and we do not use it, or let anyone else use it, to develop, improve or train generalised or non-personalised artificial intelligence or machine-learning models.

How we protect it. All data travels over encrypted HTTPS connections. Google and Meta access tokens are encrypted before they are stored. Only the employer who connected the account, the people they authorise on their company account, and JobsFor™ staff who need it for support can reach this data, and staff access is limited to administrator accounts.

Changes. If we change how JobsFor™ uses Google user data, we will update this section and its Last Updated date, and tell affected users by email or in their dashboard before the change takes effect.

13. Accessing and Correcting Your Information

You can update most of your information yourself in your account dashboard. You can also ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, through our Contact page or by email to [email protected].

  • We aim to respond within 30 days.
  • Asking is free.
  • We may need to confirm your identity first.
  • If we can’t give access or make a correction, we will tell you why and how to complain.

14. Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, please contact us first (section 19). We aim to respond to complaints within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC): www.oaic.gov.au, phone 1300 363 992.

15. Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, keep the site secure, and measure how the site is used. Our cookie banner lets you choose whether to allow non-essential cookies (analytics and marketing). You can also block cookies in your browser, but some parts of the site may stop working.

17. Children

JobsFor™ is for people who are legally able to work in Australia. We do not knowingly collect information from children under the minimum working age in their state or territory. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will remove it.
